The land that now comprises Springside is part of the homelands of the Munsee Lenape, Indigenous peoples who have an enduring connection to this place.

10. LOWER GATE
Up the hill and slightly to the left are the ruins of Matthew Vassar’s cottage. Two stone gateposts, each topped with iron greyhounds, once stood here marking the start of a service lane leading to the rear of the cottage.
