Visitors to Springside often want to get involved. There are many ways! Springside Landscape Restoration (SLR) the all volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization manages, restores, and maintains Springside’s 20-acres. SLR’s charge includes the ongoing preservation and restoration of the landscape and the built structures such as the Porter’s Lodge – the sole surviving building and the Academy Street wall, providing interpretative materials and signage, giving guided tours, and educating the public about Matthew Vassar’s Springside and its designer Andrew Jackson Downing. Springside is not owned or operated by New York State or the Federal Government. Our support comes from people like you!
You can support Springside now by becoming a member, making a gift to the Annual Fund, or donating for a special project like painting and repairs to for the Porter’s Lodge.Other possibilities of support include volunteering and equipment or material donations. And don’t forget matching gifts with your employer and gifts of stocks and bonds!

Your tax-deductible donation helps provide the funds for Springside’s ongoing needs and projects. Although a National Historic Landmark, Springside does not receive any government support due to the limited funding and fierce competition for those funds due to the tough economic times. Springside relies on people like you to help keep the carriage trails open and preserve and restore the landscape and built structures such as the Porter’s Lodge and Academy Street wall with your tax-deductible donation.
