The land that now comprises Springside is part of the homelands of the Munsee Lenape, Indigenous peoples who have an enduring connection to this place.
Enjoy the meandering carriage trails, curious knolls, and rocky outcrops of the Andrew Jackson Downing designed landscape. Walkers, joggers, and dogs (on leashes please!) appreciate the quiet trails and changing scenery. Artists discover the interesting play of light and shadow off the knolls. Birders find many species within a green oasis. Visitors and residents alike experience a cultural landscape that resonates today.
Discover Springside at your own pace! The self-guided tour merges the popular 1867 walking tour described by Benson Lossing in hisVassar College and Its Founder with contemporary details and insights.
