Enjoy the site
Just as Vassar did over a century ago, we encourage the public to enjoy the grounds any time from dawn to dusk. The site offers winding trails for walking, running, and skiing; changing scenery for nature photographers, interesting birding, and venues for meditating or simply soaking in the beauty. Click here for more information about tours.

Arbor Day Celebration
Each spring, Springside Landscape Restoration celebrates Arbor Day at the historic site. April 27, 2007, the following arborists donated their services to maintain the trees that make up the mature urban forest of the Downing landscape: Bartlett Tree Experts, Craig Kurkela, Inc., Integral Tree and Landscape Corp., and Red Cedar Tree & Landscaping Inc.

Annual Rare Plant Sale
Springside Landscape Restoration celebrates National Historic Preservation month the third Saturday in May by holding a Plant Sale at Springside. Both indoor and outdoor plants are sold to raise funds for continued restoration work. Tours of the site are also available that day. For further information, please contact us.

Work Days at Springside
Volunteers are welcome to join us on the second Saturday of each month to continue with the landscape restoration work. To volunteer or find out more, please contact us.
